What if the only thing standing in your way… is you?

What if the only thing standing in your way… is you?

I’ve been sitting with this question for a while.

Not in a harsh, motivational-poster way.

More in a quiet, curious, what-if-I’m-ready-to-be-honest-with-myself way.

Because when I look back over my journey — through burnout, perimenopause, rediscovering creativity, navigating ADHD, building communities, and slowly learning how to look after myself properly — one thing keeps coming up:

So many of the barriers I thought were out there…
were actually happening inside me.

The stories we tell ourselves

“I’ll do it when I feel more confident.”
“I just need more time / energy / qualifications.”
“Other people have it figured out — I don’t.”
“Who am I to lead this?”

For years, I believed those stories.

Not because they were true, but because they were familiar.
And familiar can feel safer than change — even when it’s uncomfortable.

When wellbeing became non-negotiable

My first business, Simple Wellbeing didn’t come from a place of having it all together.

It came from a place of having to stop.

My body was whispering — then shouting — that something had to change.

Hormones. Exhaustion. Overwhelm. A nervous system permanently on high alert.

Wellbeing stopped being a “nice idea” and became a lifeline.

And here’s the thing no one tells you: when you start caring for yourself properly, it becomes harder to ignore what you actually want.

Enter Sisters & Sequins ✨

Sisters & Sequins was born from loneliness, longing, and a deep need for connection.

I didn’t set out to build a “brand” or a ‘business”
I set out to create a space where women could show up as they are — tired, brilliant, hormonal, neurodivergent, ambitious, creative, unsure — and still belong.

What I didn’t expect was how often women would say:

“I nearly didn’t come.”

Because of nerves.
Because of self-doubt.
Because that familiar voice saying, “It’s not really for you.”

And yet… every time they walked through the door, something shifted.

The quiet truth

So often, we’re not being blocked by lack of opportunity.
We’re being blocked by fear dressed up as logic.

Fear of being seen.
Fear of getting it wrong.
Fear of outgrowing old versions of ourselves.

And sometimes — especially in midlife — fear of admitting:

There might be more for me.

What if it doesn’t have to be perfect?

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this:

You don’t need to feel ready to begin.
You don’t need to be healed to lead.
You don’t need confidence before action — confidence often comes after.

You just need willingness.

Willingness to try.
To show up.
To take one small, sparkly step forward.

This is your permission slip

If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this might be it.

What if the thing you’re craving — connection, clarity, creativity, confidence — is on the other side of a decision you’re scared to make?

What if the only thing standing in your way…
is you believing you should stay where you are?

And what if — just what if — you’re allowed to choose yourself now?
